For Cape May County residents who do not have someone on their Emergency Call List, we will act as a support system and put our name on the list. When called, we show up as we are available, to offer companionship. We also bring a prepacked bag of comfort items that might make the person's time in the hospital more tolerable. Think earplugs, eye-mask, tablet, headphones, blanket, stuffed animal, video game, etc. Each client is responsible for packing their own bags.
Because our availability is limited at this time, we cannot guarantee we will arrive at any certain time after being called. We will simply do our best to get there as soon we can!

Because our availability is limited at this time, we will prioritize people who meet the following criteria: Full-time Cape May County resident, suffering from mental illness, and transported to Cooper Cape Regional Hospital. If you meet those criteria, and if you don't have anyone on your Emergency Call List at the hospital, we want to help you!

In addition to offering companionship, we can also bring a small bag packed with comfort items that we hold onto until needed. You are responsible for providing the items you wish to be brought to you. Some ideas of what to include in your comfort-bag: earplugs, eyemask, headphones, tablet, stuffed animal, video game, blanket, sweater, phone charger, tobacco replacements, things like that! It's completely up to you. We will need to inspect each bag's items to be sure nothing illegal is included but other than that we don't touch them until they are needed. Bags will be kept in my home until I can afford a storage unit.

We understand that being in the hospital is not easy for anyone, and it is especially difficult for those living with mental illness. As soon as we are able, we will offer comfort in the form of presence and understanding. There is no defined length of time we will stay but we will do everything we can to be there for you.

My name is Michael and I was born and raised in Cape May County. I have suffered from chronic health conditions for many years and understand what it's like not to have many people in your corner while suffering. I am a very good listener and like to protect those who are vulnerable. I have a strong desire to make Cape May County a friendlier place for those with chronic mental and physical health conditions. Hopefully, in time, I will find others who want to join me. Please reach out if interested! I'd love help in any way I can get it.
